Job Summary :
Serves the needs of patients, associates, physicians, and the public through the effective and efficient completion of preventative and general repairs of electrical appliances, clinical and non-clinical equipment systems and circuits and other general maintenance activities.
Occasionally covers job duties on Engineering Tech I and Engineering Tech IA in their absence.

Responsibilities:
1.
Repairs and maintains electrical appliances, removes and replaces defective electrical outlets, and minor wiring.
Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances, using hand tools and testing instruments to supply electrical power for lighting and equipment operation in a hospital.
2.
Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication, power circuits, and equipment.
Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment, using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, and testing lamp.
Examines and tests such elements of systems as distribution panel, controls, circuit fixtures, and motors to locate obvious faults such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes.
3.
Repair electrical circuits and equipment.
Replaces faulty switches, sockets, plugs, insulators, and other simple elements of electrical systems1 fixtures, and appliances.
4.
Installs new wiring and electrical machinery.
Runs wires through conduit and makes connections to complete circuits.
Assembles, installs, and connects them to units controlled.
Mounts motors, transformers, lighting fixtures, or other equipment into position and completes circuits, according to diagram specifications.
5.
Runs scheduled tests on emergency electrical supply.
6.
Checks, oils, greases, adjust and replace defective parts.
Replaces electrical cords, bulbs, switches, and related items.
7.
Installs and repairs minor pipes, fittings, fixtures, and tests systems for leaks.
8.
Cleans and makes repairs to motors and electrical fixtures.
9.
Makes and repairs counters, partitions, and other structures using saws, braces, bits, and other carpenter's tools; installs window glass and linoleum or asphalt flooring.
10.
Checks standby diesel electrical generator and sees that it is maintained in good working order.
11.
Answers pages for maintenance service.
12.
Maintains and keeps maintenance tools and related equipment clean, orderly, and in good working condition at all times.
13.
Drives hospital vehicles on hospital campus, to satellite facilities, and to Indianapolis and surrounding area to perform job duties, deliver and pick up repair parts.

Education and Experience Required:
1.
High School diploma or equivalent.
2.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions and perform arithmetic calculations.
3.
One year's general maintenance experience is required or equivalent on the job training.
